Kinloch Lodge on Loch na Dol in the south of Skye is justly renowned for its food, accommodation and setting.
We arrived for a night’s stay and were welcomed with a glass of fizz by the log fire in one of the cosy, traditional lounges. In the evening we enjoyed a glass of wine and superb canapés in another lounge before dinner.
We opted for the seven course tasting menu and every course demonstrated chef Marcello Tully’s high level of skill, yet allowed the ingredients to shine.
The friendly, attentive staff added to the experience, too. It was hard to find a stand-out dish but the scallops and mussels were the best I have ever tasted. Coffee and hand-made chocolates in the lounge rounded off a perfect meal.
