Fika, London

Fika, the Swedish philosophy of pausing to enjoy coffee and something sweet with friends, is an appealing one.

Brick Lane’s Fika Swedish Bar and Grill seems have have captured this philosophy perfectly. Low lighting, quirky decor (think cosy corners, cushions, fairy lights, reindeer murals), friendly staff and an intriguing menu make for an interesting place to sit.

The Swedish waffle went down well and the homemade caramel popcorn was a different afternoon snack.

For those wanting a more substantial meal there is an array of Scandinavian favourites: meatballs, lax planka, venison and fish. Fika’s aim is to bring out the flavours of the food so ‘they taste like themselves’.

Sit back, relax and enjoy Fika with friends.
