Foxcroft & Ginger, London

It was the name – Foxcroft & Ginger that attracted me to this cafe bar in Shoreditch’s pop-up mall Boxpark.

The shipping container (the site is made up on stacked shipping containers housing cafes and shops) is decked out with exposed wood flooring, scaffolding and statement lighting, making it a comfy, yet cool place to watch the world go by.

Decent cakes are baked daily at Foxcroft & Ginger’s big sister site in SoHo then shipped in fresh each day. The banana bread was moist and fruity, while the coffee was strong. A bottle of tap water, brought without having to request it, was a nice touch.

If you’re after something more substantial breadboards, homemade

Banana bread

meatballs, triple cooked chips, salads (broccoli & mixed seed, somaq roasted potato & tomato to name a few), and house baked sourdough sandwiches are available.

Quaint and quirky it’s worth checking out. But beware, get there early to bag a seat. And be careful, there is a display of uncovered cakes.
